Welcome to Innes Community Council
This website has been set up by ICC to act as a sort of virtual notice-board where the local community, and indeed anybody else, can find out who the community council are, what they're currently doing and how they can join in and help.
What is a Community Council?
Community Councils were created in the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 "...to ascertain, co-ordinate and express to the local authorities for its area and to public authorities, the views of the community which it represents...and to take such action in the interests of the community as appears to it to be expedient and practicable."
The main purpose of a community Council is to represent the views of our community, so we need you to come to our meetings or contact us via this website and tell us what you want us to do.
What does a Community Council do?
Community Councils can be involved in anything which affects their community; for example:
- Environmental Projects
- Campaigning on local issues
- Providing lunch-clubs for the elderly
- Dealing with road-signs, pot-holes, Christmas lights etc
If you have a local issue and you're not sure if it's something your Community Council can deal with, come to one of our meetings and raise it, as there's a good chance we will be able to help.
